What is an Affinity Group?
An Affinity Group is a group of alumni who share an interest or common bond, typically rooted in their experience as an undergraduate or graduate student. Affinity groups have events throughout the year with the goal of staying connected with each other and with Slippery Rock University. This connection can be based on identity, student organization involvement, interests, or professional industry. Examples of these may include the following:
While affinity group members generally share a common identity, it is important to note that all groups are open to all alumni.

- Student Activity Involvement (Ex: Green and White Society, SGA, Res Life/CA, Athletics)
- Identity-based groups (Ex: LGBTQ, Black, Jewish)
- Professional/Career Affiliation (Ex: Legal, Military, Education)
- Interest (Ex: Exercise, Literature, Opera)
While affinity group members generally share a common identity, it is important to note that all groups are open to all alumni.

Black Alumni Network
The Black Alumni Network at SRU was established 2020. B.A.N was designed to connect with current students and alumni, identify black alumni resources, and advocate for black students and graduates. B.A.N's mission is to facilitate a more inclusive SRU community by supporting black alumni and students, sharing our experiences, and celebrating our black community's accomplishments.

The Slippery Rock University Communication and Media Hall of Fame celebrates the positive accomplishments of diverse individuals who have made a significant impact on the field of communication and/or media and the communities they serve.
