Nominating Process - Alumni Board
Any graduate of Slippery Rock University that is a member of the SRUAA (who has paid annual dues or is a life member), may nominate another alumnus/a in good standing for a directorship. Individuals may also self-nominate. The nominee must be a current member in good standing of the SRU Alumni Association. All officers and directors must hold a current life or annual membership when nominated and elected to serve on the board.
TERM OF OFFICE: Three (3) Years, renewable once. Board members elected in 2025 will serve a term running from July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2028.

Duties and Responsibilities
Members of the Board of Directors of the Slippery Rock University Alumni Association (SRUAA) represent the alumni of Slippery Rock University. Board members support the mission of the SRUAA, promoting the welfare of SRU and engaging alumni in a lifelong relationship with the University.
TERM:
Five directors shall be elected annually by the membership of the Alumni Association. Directors shall hold office for a term of three years, and no director may serve more than two consecutive three-year terms. Directors serving in appointed terms are eligible for election at the end of their appointed term.

Responsibilities of Board Members:
- Attend quarterly board meetings. The Board meets regularly four times a year in April, July, October and January. The Board may adjust the scheduled meeting dates if need be. The Executive Committee may call a separate meeting of The Board.
- Attend key Alumni Association events:
- Homecoming /Alumni Weekend
- Annual Scholarship and Awards Dinner
- Serve on a committee. All voting members shall actively participate in at least one (1) committee of The Board. Standing committees are as follows:
- Fiscal Affairs
- House and Special Projects
- Membership and Marketing
- Nominations
- Scholarship and Awards
- University Affairs
- Constitution and Bylaws
Attendance Requirements
Board members must attend at least 75% of the meetings during the year. If you do not attend 75% of the meetings, you may be asked to discuss the issue with the Executive Committee for final decision on your alumni board status. The Board, by a majority vote, may replace any voting member of The Board who is absent without just cause from three consecutive meetings or who fails to fulfill his/her obligations at key Association events. This power may be delegated to the Executive Committee.
Additional Board Member Best Practices
- Participate in meetings by asking questions, making suggestions, and voicing your concerns and/or endorsements
- Collaborate in good faith as partners with fellow board members and staff to achieve organizational goals
- Respond to requests for input or guidance
- Attend university-wide or alumni events that support the mission of the SRUAA— on campus or in your local area, as your schedule allows
- Act as an ambassador for the university, and promote the board and the university as appropriate in day-to-day interactions
- Volunteer at events
- Identify highly qualified candidates and nominate those who will bring strength to the board
- Encourage fellow alumni to support the SRUAA through membership, participation in its programs and services
VOTING: All active members of the SRU Alumni Association are eligible to cast a ballot for nominated individuals. Ballots are available to members on February 1, 2025 and must be submitted to the Office of Alumni Engagement by March 31, 2025.
